National SEL Initiatives

ESSA(Every Student Succeeds Act)

​​​ESSA, the federal education law, encourages the integration of SEL into educational policies and practices. It allows states and school districts to use federal funds to support SEL initiatives, such as professional development for educators, the creation of safe and supportive school environments, and the promotion of well-rounded education.

National Commision on Social , Emotional, and Academic Development

This commission, convened by the Aspen Institute, released a report titled "From a Nation at Risk to a Nation at Hope." The report highlights the importance of SEL in education and provides recommendations for integrating SEL into schools and communities across the country.

CASEL(Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning

CASEL is a national organization that focuses on advancing SEL in education. They provide guidance, research, and resources for schools and districts to implement SEL effectively. CASEL's framework for SEL is widely recognized and used as a reference for SEL programs nationwide.

Federal Grant Programs

​The U.S. Department of Education has offered grant programs that support SEL initiatives. These grants provide funding to states and districts to implement SEL programs and improve school climate, which can positively impact students' social and emotional development.
